Book Summary:
(Taken from Goodreads)

Alex Guidry has been called to Mexico to help solve a ritualistic murder that has taken place on the grounds of an ancient Mayan temple. Is it tied to the multi-national company that is drilling for oil nearby or something greater?

The 8th Doll is a fast paced thriller that uses aspects of Mayan architecture, geology, and the 2012 apocalyptic prophecy to weave a story that will keep you turning pages until the last chapter.

Kathy's Review:

I'm glad I read this book prior to the predicted date of the Mayan apocalypse, otherwise I would have worried that the end was near! Packed with action throughout, The 8th Doll focuses on Mayan ruins and the mysteries held within. It also contains romance and well-formed characters. Author Chris Rakunas has a knack for telling a good story, as this is his second work that I've read. His first was a non-fictional account of his work in Haiti, but was a well-told story nonetheless. This fictional work calls to mind such writers as Dan Brown, Steve Barry and the like, who are able to weave elements of history into a modern-day thriller. I was eagerly turning the (virtual) pages to see what was going to happen next. Is there any truth to the Mayan prophecy? What is the secret of the 8th doll?

Chris Rakunas is an author to watch and I highly recommend The 8th Doll.
